Usage

Side Effects
Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as chest pain, jaw and left arm pain; bloody diarrhea; fainting; fast, irregular, pounding heartbeat; mental/mood changes; severe stomach/abdominal pain; severe chest pain; seizures; slurred speech; vision changes. The common side effects may include:

• Circulation problems that cause lack of blood supply in the body;
• Heart problems;

Do not use Imitrex within 24 hours before or after using any other migraine headache medications. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking including prescription, OTC, and herbal medications especially MAOIs, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, etc. Sumatriptan can make you dizzy or drowsy. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery or do anything that requires you to be alert. Limit alcoholic beverages. It is unknown whether Imitrex will harm an unborn baby. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant. Sumatriptan can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not breast-feed within 12 hours after using Imitrex. Imitrex is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old.
